Venue Rental - The Robert McLaughlin Gallery

Overview

The Robert McLaughlin Gallery (RMG) is an artist-centered and community-oriented public art gallery located in Downtown Oshawa, occupying a 36,000 square foot building designed by renowned Canadian architect Arthur Erickson. The RMG offers several spaces for private events such as weddings, galas, receptions, parties, and presentations. As a fully licensed venue with an on-site catering kitchen, the RMG can provide hospitality services for any type of event.

Venue Spaces & Rental Fees

• Isabel McLaughlin Gallery: Capacity 125 theatre style. Rental Fee: $1,000. Features hardwood floors, vaulted ceilings; perfect for ceremonies, receptions, presentations, and screenings. Note: food and beverages not permitted.
• WS Nurse Lobby: Capacity 100 cocktail reception, 75 theatre style, 50 seated dinner. Rental Fee: $650. Features 35-foot high skylight ceilings and catwalks accessible by elevator.
• The Lookout: Capacity 20 with tables, 30 theatre style. Rental Fee: $250. Features 12ft screen, small kitchenette, floor-to-ceiling windows with view of Oshawa Creek.
• Arthur's: Capacity 90 cocktail reception, 64 theatre style, 64 seated dinner. Rental Fee: $1,200. Fourth-floor multipurpose room with panoramic view; includes bar, catering kitchen, and service station.
• The Backyard: Capacity 250 cocktail reception, 150 seated dinner. Rental Fee: $2,000. Outdoor space designed for summer events with canopy and tent options.
• Your Photographs: 4 Hour Booking $300. Available for family portraits, engagement or wedding photographs. Not permitted during certain public events.

• Isabel Gallery + Lobby + Arthur's: $2,500
• Isabel Gallery or Arthur's + WS Nurse Lobby: $1,500
• Isabel Gallery + Arthur's: $2,000
• Lobby + Backyard: $2,250
• Entire Building: $5,000

Booking Hours

Exhibition spaces and the lobby are not available during opening hours (4 pm closing). All venue rental space bookings can start once the gallery closes at 4 pm each day. The Lookout and Arthur's can be rented at any time during gallery opening hours and are subject to additional security fees if booked outside of opening hours.

Event Support Services

• Bar Services: Bartender $30/hour. The RMG holds a Liquor Service License and can provide beer, wine, spirits, and sparkling wine service. Bartenders must be provided by the RMG or catering partners.
• Catering: The RMG offers catering through Dine & Style, Berry Hill Food Company, and Farm & Wild Catering.

Restrictions

Exhibitions and artwork should not be used as a backdrop for film or photography shoots to protect copyright and artistic integrity. Photography bookings are not available during certain public events including OPG Family Days, camps, home school sessions, and schools programming. If your booking is after hours, it will be subject to security fees. Exhibition spaces are not rented to external parties who want to use the collections or exhibitions as a basis for their event.
