Arts Grants FY2025 Accepting Submissions from 07/01/2023 to 06/30/2025 This is the application form for all our arts grants both to organizations and individual artists. Organizations are split into three categories: nonprofit arts organizations, all other nonprofit and government organizations, and schools. Funding sources for organizations are Clean Water, Land and Legacy funds and general allocation funds from the State of Minnesota. Funding source for individuals is The McKnight Foundation. Individuals will apply based on their artist project expense budget. Grants are for $5,000 with a deadline of Sep 30 annually; $1,500 with a deadline of Nov 15 annually, and $500 on a first come, first served basis in our quick turn around category based on funds remaining each quarter. We fund three to four individuals for $5,000 and four individuals for $1,500 annually and approximately eight individuals for $500. Funds come primarily from The McKnight Foundation for individual artist projects. We search out artists who are people of color to apply for our individual grants. We fund all the different arts disciplines recognized by the National Endowment for the Arts including visual and fine craft arts, performing arts, creative writing, media arts, and folk arts. Nonprofit Arts Organizations like community theaters will start by applying for general operating. They can apply as of July 31 each year. Their general operating grant amount is based on their total expenses within the previous two completed years and their history of arts programming. They will be able to add to this grant, if they need additional funding. Add-on amounts will be up to $3,000 for the 1st Program Add-on in Aug; up to $3,000 for the Arts Equipment Add-on with 25% cash match in Oct; up to $10,000 for the 2nd Program Add-on in Dec; and up to $10,000 for the 3rd Program Add-on available in Feb. All other nonprofits and government organizations will apply for one arts project at a time. Grants round deadlines are July 31, October 31 and February 28 each year with $50,000 of funding reserved for each round. Grants are between $500 and $10,000. Funding sources are Clean Water, Land and Legacy funds and general allocation funds from the State of Minnesota. Schools will start by letting our office know that they are interested in grant funding by submitting the grant created for them in our online system. They can apply starting in July each year. The initial application narrative is based on their history of arts programming with our office and is updated with coordinators that will be assigned add-on forms. They will be able to add-on to this generic grant set up by our office, as the year progresses. Add-on amounts will be up to $3,000 for the 1st Residency Add-on in Aug; up to $3,000 for the Arts Equipment Add-on with 25% cash match in Oct; up to $3,000 for the 2nd Residency Add-on in Oct; up to $3,000 for the 3rd Residency Add-on available in Dec; and up to $3,000 for the 4th Residency Add-on available in Feb.
