Overview
Flame & Estudio Inverso invites contemporary visual, digital, and sound artists to apply for an intensive one-month residency in Madrid. Live in a private room in Malasaña's historic city center and work in a dedicated studio space (16m²–20m²) in Carabanchel's renovated industrial warehouse.
The Space & Community
Work alongside 13 open studios under an "open walls" concept. Facilities include 3.3m ceilings, front exhibition space, communal roof terrace, kitchenette, and an on-site recording studio for sound artists. The residency concludes with a public Open Studio showcase bringing local curators, collectors, and artists to your workspace.

- Private bedroom in fully furnished shared 2-bedroom apartment in Malasaña with loft-style ceilings (buhardilla)
- Dedicated 16m²–20m² workspace with 24/7 access in 320m² open-studio warehouse in Carabanchel

Travel expenses to and from Madrid, daily catering, personal art supplies, and project-specific tools or structural maintenance.

Cost & Payment
Total fee for one-month residency is €2,000 (net; Spanish VAT/IVA not applicable). €1,200 covers accommodation; €800 covers studio space. Payment schedule: 50% deposit (€1,000) due upon signing residency agreement; remaining 50% (€1,000) due one month prior to residency start date.

Open to independent creators or those securing institutional mobility grants. Open to artists based anywhere in the world at any stage of career. Grant Support & Deadlines
Upon formal acceptance, an official itemized Letter of Invitation is issued to assist artists in securing external mobility funding (such as Arts Council England or Culture Moves Europe).
