About LKV

Overview

LKV (Lademoen Kunstnerverksteder) is an artist-run organization founded in 1993 in Trondheim, Norway. It provides 43 artist studios, well-equipped workshops for printmaking, photography, wood, metal, ceramics, and large-scale work, a residency program welcoming 25+ artists annually, and BABEL, an exhibition space hosting 6 yearly exhibitions. The organization is collectively run by its resident artists through general meetings, committees, and working groups.

International Environment

LKV currently has eight nationalities represented in its studio community. The organization welcomes artists from around the world through its residency program and BABEL exhibition space, fostering cultural exchange, professional collaboration, and international visibility for Norwegian artists.

History

• 1993: LKV established in the former Lademoen school through collaboration between artists and Trondheim municipality
• 1996: Residency program launched with two apartments and two guest studios
• 1999: LKV Foundation established to receive investment and operating funds
• 2006: BABEL exhibition space created at initiative of resident artists
• 2019: Comprehensive upgrade of facilities initiated; residency apartments renovated and expanded with two additional units; program becomes interdisciplinary
