Overview
The ›Vorsicht Demokratie!‹ (›Caution: Democracy!‹) campaign stands for the freedom of art and science, which requires open societies, the rule of law, and strong, transformative institutions. Launched at Berlin Art Week 2025, the campaign will grow nationwide in the coming months and years, promoting democratic institutions and strengthening democracy through a network of artists, initiatives, and cultural institutions.
Activities
The campaign will be accompanied by events at participating institutions and public facilities, as well as discussion panels with politicians and civil society initiatives.
Participating Artists & Institutions
Initiated by ›Werkstatt Der Bevölkerung‹ and Berlin Art Week I Kulturprojekte Berlin. Participating artists and institutions include Maria Eichhorn, Marina Naprushkina, Christoph Niemann, Käthe Kruse, Lea Greub, Antonia Schlösser, Harry Hachmeister, Tianzhuo Chen, Kat Valastur, Sam Durant, Philipp Grözinger, Ruprecht von Kaufmann, Charlie Stein, Ulf Aminde, Neozoon, Gernot Bubenik, Herbert Mondry, Rosemarie Trockel, Lucia Tallová, Sarah Schönfeld, Franek, Hans-Hendrik Grimmling, Hans Haacke, and Klaus Staeck, among partnering institutions such as Akademie der Künste, Berliner Ensemble, Berlinische Galerie, C/O Berlin, Georg Kolbe Museum, HAU Hebbel am Ufer, haubrok foundation, Haus am Lützowplatz, Haus der Kulturen der Welt, Kindl – Zentrum für zeitgenössische Kunst, Neue Gesellschaft für bildende Kunst, Neuer Berliner Kunstverein, PalaisPopulaire, and Schering Stiftung.
