Lou Haney: Window Dressing is on view June 27 - September 13, 2026 in the Experimental Gallery, Lower Level. Lou Haney's paintings embrace excess, combining bright colors, busy patterns, and dense interiors in compositions that embrace nostalgia while acknowledging its risks. In Window Dressing, she presents a new installation that exaggerates the play between flatness and depth, interior and exterior, organic and synthetic. The work features oversized, handmade curtains framing multiple layers of images alternating between inside and outside, evoking both a window and a stage.

This exhibition is part of MoCA Arlington's SOLOS 2026 program. Launched in 1988, SOLOS features solo exhibitions by artists based in the Mid-Atlantic region working at the forefront of contemporary art.

Lou Haney is a native of Decatur, Alabama with a BA from Rhodes College and an MFA in Painting from Claremont Graduate University. Her career includes residencies at MacDowell, Vermont Studio Center, and Virginia Center for the Creative Arts. In 2008, she received an Individual Artist Fellowship from the Mississippi Art Commission. She currently teaches Studio Art and Art History at Piedmont Virginia Community College, Sweet Briar College, and Charlottesville Middle School, and is based in Charlottesville, Virginia.
