Overview
The California Arts Council awards grants of up to $25,000 per year to support nonprofit arts organizations and teaching artists in planning and delivering professional development in arts integration strategies to classroom teachers and administrators. Projects should pave a pathway for increased equitable student learning in, through, and about the arts.
Eligibility
- California-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, OR teaching artist with a California-based 501(c)(3) fiscal sponsor, OR municipal/county/tribal governmental entity
- Minimum two-year history of consistent arts programming prior to application deadline
- Certificate of good standing with California Secretary of State at time of application
- May apply for only one Arts & Youth Grant Program in 2024 cycle (Creative Youth Development, Arts Education Exposure, or Arts Integration Training)
Funding Amount & Restrictions
- Up to $25,000 for one-year grant activity period
- For organizations with total revenue above $250,000: sum of requests during same year cannot exceed 50% of most recently completed fiscal year revenue
- No funding restrictions for organizations with total revenue below $250,000
- No matching fund requirement
Program Goals
- Develop long-term, mutually beneficial relationships between arts and educational organizations, teaching artists, and youth and families in communities served
- Develop ability of classroom teachers to design and implement culturally and linguistically responsive, sequential, standards-based arts integration projects throughout the curriculum
- Develop site, district, and/or county-level administrators' understanding of how arts integration strategies promote overall student educational outcomes
- Promote educators' positive recognition of and respect for diverse cultural assets of the local community

Apply online at calartscouncil.smartsimple.com. Virtual office sessions are available for technical assistance on Wednesdays (April 10, 2–3 p.m.), Thursdays (April 25, 9–10 a.m.; May 16, 4–5 p.m.), Mondays (May 6, noon–1 p.m.), and Fridays (May 17, 9–10 a.m.). Registration is not required.
