About the Workshop
Located in La Boca neighborhood, Buenos Aires, one block from La Bombonera stadium, Dale Boca is a flexible space for material experimentation, visual research, and focused creative work. The workshop is intentionally free of Wi-Fi to support creative focus.
Studio Space & Equipment
- Mounting walls, easels, brushes, work tables
- Tool kit: drill, screwdrivers, welder, saw, hammers, heat gun, adhesives
- Projector, sound recorders, handycam cameras for video art and performance documentation
Mentorship & Focus
During residency, close mentorship centers on painting, mixed media use, development of artistic journals (bitácoras), and conversation around creative processes. Residents are invited to explore and engage with the cultural dynamics of the La Boca neighborhood.
Hours
Available throughout the day, preferably 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., by prior coordination for entry. On Boca Juniors stadium match days, workshop access closes from 2:00 p.m. onward.
Resident: Julián Matta
Julián Matta (Chaco, 1985) is a Buenos Aires–based artist working across painting, video art, sculpture, and installation. He completed a degree in Film Direction at FUC and trained through the University Torcuato Di Tella Artists Program (2023–24), Luis Terán's workshop, Fundación El Mirador's Artists × Artists program, and work clinics with Andrés Labaké. His honors include 2nd Prize in Painting at the 111° National Salon of Visual Arts (2023), 3rd Acquisition Prize at the 17° Bancor Painting Prize (2024), mentions and exhibition prizes including Premio En Obra at Arteba 2025. From 2017–2021 he undertook residencies in Korea, Japan, and Portugal with artist Val Vargas, and received the Red Quincho Constelaciones grant in 2024.
