About
Overview
The Centre for Modern Art & Theory at Masaryk University invites applications for a one-month Visiting Research Fellowship during Autumn Semester 2026. The Centre promotes research and teaching in modern and contemporary art, visual culture, aesthetics, design, and art criticism. The Visiting Fellow will undertake research with Centre support, deliver a SMArt Talk lecture, lead a Work in Progress session, and engage in intellectual exchanges with Centre members.
Eligibility
Open to researchers at any stage of their career who hold a PhD in a relevant field.
Fellowship Details
- Stipend: 50,000 CZK (approximately €2,000)
- Duration: Expected stay of three to four weeks; fellows may propose longer stays using the same stipend
- Timing: Within the Autumn Semester window (September–December) 2026
Application Requirements
- Covering letter (maximum 800 words) stating motivation for the Centre, fit within the Centre's research programme, outline of proposed study project, and preferred dates for the fellowship
- CV including a list of publications
- Writing sample such as an article or book/thesis chapter (maximum 9,000 words)
